Rising Star Chihuahuas & Rising Sun Pekingese

We are very fortunate to have living in our home, two wonderful young ladies that adore the dogs and are wonderful care givers to them. The oldest is my daughter, Danica, and the other is her friend of over 9 years now, Tonya.

These girls met when I worked in a classroom for mentally and physically challenged young adults who had graduated high school, but still needed further education and assistance in daily living skills, job & social skills. I realized when I met Tonya that she had more potential than her current living situation would allow so invited her to move in with us any time she felt she was ready. About 2 years later she did, and has been with us ever since. She and Danica (Sissy) are best buds, participate in Special Olympics together, both have small part-time jobs at a local business, and both particpate in CIR, a local organization that provide many avenues of activity, sports, arts & crafts to the community for people of all abilities. Sissy has always been an out going little lady, dancing at the national levels when she was elementary age, showing dogs of various breeds as she grew up but Tonya has always been a wall flower...until the dogs came into her life...she asked to and has shown a Pekingese that she claims as "hers" several times and we are so proud of her and her development and accomplihments. She has come a long way and is working on continued improvement in all life skills.

Both girls love doing ceramics, puzzles, dog grooming and their outside activites but I have to say, the dogs are #1 with them.
